Scope: 

All University personnel soliciting and/or receiving external funds.

Purpose: 

To coordinate all external funds solicitation and management, except sponsored academic research, through the Office of Philanthropy.

Policy: 

All external funding solicitations must be initiated and coordinated through the Office of Philanthropy. All external funding expenditures must follow University established finance policies and procedures. All grant expenditures must be approved by the grant’s named Program Director (PD) or Principal Investigator (PI) and AHU Grants Manager. All gift expenditures will be reviewed by the Director of Philanthropy with documentation and approvals obtained, as needed.

Definition(s): 

External Funds are defined as: federal, state, and local grants, private foundation grants, corporate funding, and philanthropic gifts from individuals, organizations, and corporations. Philanthropic gifts may be endowed or not endowed; unrestricted, or donor designated.
