Reporting Structure in Absence of Leadership Policy

All employees and students at AdventHealth University.


The purpose of this policy is to have an established reporting structure to ensure prompt response to situations requiring immediate action in the event that the University President, leadership, or a department leader is not immediately available.


For this policy, when the University President is not available, the following individuals, in the order listed, will have oversight and responsibility for making decisions that require immediate action to provide safety and security for the campus, students, and employees.

  1. Provost
  2. Senior Vice President Chief Financial Officer
  3. Senior Vice President Student Affairs
  4. Senior Vice President Operational Strategy & Learning
  5. Vice President Marketing & Business Development

At least one individual from the list above will be available at all times via cell phone and be able to commute to the University. If a situation arises in which all the above individuals will be out of the area, the President shall designate an on-campus representative. 

Department leaders are expected to establish and communicate a reporting structure to be implemented in their absence, that is approved by their immediate supervisor. 

In the event of an emergency, the order listed above may change based on the incident Command Structure required for the response in accordance with the University's Emergency Management Plan.
