Scope: 
This SOP applies to all AdventHealth University (AHU) students.
Purpose: 
To define when and how non-AHU students take a course(s) at AHU as transient students and AHU students take a course(s) at other institutions.
Procedures: 

Process for Granting Transient Status AHU Students 

  • Complete the Petition for Transient Letter Form.  An approved Petition for Transient Status is valid for the requested term only
  • Submit the Petition for Transient Letter Form with the appropriate signatures (student and student advisor) along with the course description(s) to the Office of the Registrar at least 15 business days before the start of the trimester 
  • The Office of the Registrar sends the form to the Chair of the Department of Health and Biomedical Sciences for approval or denial 
  • The Chair of the Department of Health and Biomedical Sciences sends the form to Academic Administration for approval or denial 
  • The Office of the Registrar will notify the student of the decision, and will send a transient letter to the transient institution if approved
  • The student needs to submit an official transcript once the course(s) have been completed
Definition(s): 

Transient Student: A transient student is a student who takes a course(s) at other institutions while enrolled at AHU and/or a student from other institutions who take a course(s) at AHU.
