Scope:

This procedure appllies to all AdventHealth (AHU) students.

Purpose:

The purpose is to outline the minimum scores for Advanced Placement Credit and International Baccalaureate Credit and the equivalent AHU courses. It also outlines who qualifies to take the CLEP exam and the process.

Procedures:

Advanced Placement Credit

College-level credit may be granted to students who have completed Advanced Placement (AP) college-level courses in high school and have passed the College Board AP Examinations with a minimum score of 3. Partial credit will not be awarded for AP scores below the required minimum score of 3. Credit granted may not exceed credit for similar courses offered at AdventHealth University. 

International Baccalaureate Credit

College-level credit may be granted to students who have completed International Baccalaureate (IB) college-level courses in high school and have passed the IB Examinations with a minimum score of 5. Partial credit will not be awarded for IB scores below the required minimum score of 5.

College Level Examination Program (CLEP)

The CLEP give students the opportunity to receive college credit for course content they have already mastered through previous coursework or through life experiences.

  1. To qualify for the CLEP exam, a student must:
    1. Have already taken college-level coursework or obtained equivalent knowledge and/or skill in the subject.
    2. Complete the exam before the last trimester prior to graduation.
  2. Students may take a CLEP exam at AHU Testing Center or at another testing center.
  3. Test results should be sent to AHU to receive credit.
  4. Visit https://clep.collegeboard.org/ to find out more information on CLEP exams and how to register for the exam.
  5. A student must choose a testing center after purchasing a registration ticket from the College Board.
  6. CLEP exams may not be repeated.
  7. AHU does not award credit for all of the exams provided by the College Board.
  8. A student who has already enrolled in a course and they wish to challenge, the CLEP must be completed within the first week of the course.
  9. Test credit is applied according to the University policy at the time the credit is received and posted by the University.
