Scope: 

The scope is for Adjunct faculty.

Purpose: 

To acknowledge AdventHealth University Adjunct faculty who have made significant contributions to the University.

Policy: 

Professional Adjunct faculty at AHU are adjunct faculty who have distinguished themselves by their significant contributions to the university over an extended period. This status is by application by the adjunct in collaboration with the Chair and approval by President's Council.  Budgetary status of the university may influence the number of adjunct faculty members appointed to Professional Adjunct status in an academic year. Adjunct faculty must meet the following criteria to be awarded the Professional Adjunct faculty status.  

  • Minimum of three consecutive years of teaching at AHU 
  • A minimum of 4 courses, including labs, taught in two consecutive academic years 
  • A minimum of 3.2 on a Likert scale of 4 for each course evaluation throughout the academic year 
  • Demonstrated excellence in areas of expertise such as formal recognition, certification, letters of recommendation as determined by the chair 
  • Professional organization or community service involvement 

The privileges of a Professional Adjunct Faculty may include invitation to participate in the Department Faculty meetings and University Committees as non-voting members.

  • University faculty ID badge
  • Charging privileges at the University Bookstore
  • AdventHealth Orlando Cafeteria and Gift Shop discounts
  • Established pay rates will be applied
