The Jean Clery Act Compliance Policy

This policy describes AHU's requirements and responsibilities in complying with the "Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act of 1998," (commonly called the Clery Act).

The Jeanne Clery Act is a federal law found in 20 U.S.C. § 1092(f), with regulations outlined in 34 C.F.R. 668.46. This law mandates that colleges and universities participating in federal financial aid programs adhere to specific campus safety requirements.

FERPA Policy

AHU may disclose directory information without prior student consent unless the student opts out in writing. Recommended directory information includes:

a. Student name

b. Address(es)

c. Telephone listing

d. AHU email address

e. Major field(s) of study

f. Dates of attendance

g. Enrollment status (e.g., full-time/part-time)

h. Degrees, honors, and awards received

i. Expected graduation date

j. Participation in officially recognized activities

k. Photographs
