The scope is Adjunct faculty.
The purpose is to define the process for Adjunct faculty to apply and be recommended for Professional Adjunct Faculty Status at AHU. The privileges of being a Professional Adjunct Faculty are they may be invited to attend the Department Faculty meetings and University Committees, and their salary will be higher than a regular adjunct.
  • Following a discussion with the Chair, the Adjunct submits an application to the Chair of the department
  • For an adjunct that submits an application who teaches for several departments, the Chair of the Primary Department will work in collaboration with the other chairs during the process
  • The Chair of the Department recommends the adjunct applicant for this status during the year prior to advancement in collaboration with full-time faculty
  • The Chair of the Department will complete the form identifying the criteria that the adjunct has achieved and submit to Academic Administration
  • The Chair of the Department must make an appropriate fiscal assessment prior to making the recommendation
  • Academic Administration will review and make recommendations to President’s Council considering budgetary standards
  • Following review and approval by President’s Council, Academic Administration will notify the Primary Chair and the faculty member of decision
  • There will be an annual review with the Chair with a signed contract
  • The Professional Adjunct Faculty is responsible for all adjunct faculty handbook content
